Airforce Agniveer Intake 02/2026 Recruitment: Vacancy Details

While the Indian Air Force does not always disclose exact post-wise figures in the initial notification, the Agniveer Vayu Intake 02/2026 aims to fill approximately 2,500 vacancies across all trades.

The vacancies are broadly divided into two major streams for both male and female candidates:

  • Science Subjects (Technical Trades): Equivalent to the traditional Group X roles, catering to candidates with a background in Mathematics and Physics or engineering diplomas.
  • Other Than Science Subjects (Non-Technical Trades): Equivalent to the traditional Group Y roles, open to candidates from any academic stream (Arts, Commerce, etc.) or vocational courses.

The final allocation of trades (such as mechanical, electrical, administrative, or medical assistant) happens during or after basic training, depending on the candidate's merit, aptitude test results, and organizational requirements.

Airforce Agniveer Intake 02/2026 Online Form: Mode of Selection

The selection process for the IAF Agniveer Vayu is highly rigorous and designed to assess mental acuity, physical endurance, and medical fitness. The recruitment is conducted in three major phases:

Phase I: Online Written Examination (CBT)

Candidates must first clear a Computer-Based Test. The exam pattern depends on the chosen stream:

  • Science Subjects: A 60-minute test covering Physics, Mathematics, and English (10+2 CBSE syllabus).
  • Other Than Science Subjects: A 45-minute test covering English, Reasoning, and General Awareness (RAGA).
  • Both Streams: A combined 85-minute test for candidates opting for both groups.

Note: There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

Phase II: Physical & Adaptability Tests

Candidates who make the written exam cutoff are called to designated Airmen Selection Centres (ASCs) for:

  1. Document Verification: Checking original mark sheets, ID proofs, and NCC certificates.
  2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Candidates must complete a 1.6 km run (7 minutes for males, 8 minutes for females), followed by a set number of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats.
  3. Adaptability Test I & II: Objective written and psychological tests to ensure the candidate can adapt to the military lifestyle, varied geographic conditions, and team environments.

Phase III: Medical Examination

The final stage is a comprehensive medical check-up conducted by IAF medical teams. This includes blood tests, urine tests, chest X-rays, ECGs, and strict vision and hearing tests. Candidates must be completely free from disease, skeletal deformities, and meet the specific height and chest expansion criteria to be declared medically fit.

Only candidates who clear all three phases will be ranked on the Provisional Select List (PSL) and ultimately considered for the final Enrolment List.

The Provisional Select List (PSL) is a merit-based list of all candidates who cleared the exams and medicals. However, the final Enrolment List only includes the names of candidates who are actually being called for joining, based on the total number of available vacancies.
You should download your joining instructions (call letter) from the portal, gather all requested original documents, and report to your designated Airmen Training School on the specified date.
No, this recruitment is strictly under the Agnipath Scheme. Candidates will serve a fixed tenure of 4 years. After completion, up to 25% of the batch will be offered a chance to enroll in the regular cadre of the Indian Air Force based on merit and organizational requirements.
If you cleared the medicals and made the PSL but are not on the final Enrolment List, it generally means you fell below the final cutoff rank required to fill the available vacancies.
